Update about incident at A.L. Brown High School

This is information about an incident that
happened outside A.L. Brown High School this afternoon (Wednesday, October 31,
2018):
During dismissal on October 31, 2018, a person who was not a
student in Kannapolis City Schools brought a BB gun onto campus as part of a
domestic dispute. An A.L. Brown student noticed the BB gun and informed the
principal, Dr. Todd Parker. Dr. Parker and other school administrators
immediately stopped the person with the BB gun without anyone being hurt or
threatened. Officers from the Kannapolis Police Department responded
immediately and took the suspect into custody.
No one was hurt, and dismissal of school was able to continue. Immediately
after the incident, Dr. Parker sent a phone message to all A.L. Brown families informing
them of what happened. A.L. Brown High School and Kannapolis City Schools are
committed to keeping students safe and to keeping families informed. Everyone
in KCS is grateful for the quick action of A.L. Brown administrators and the Kannapolis
Police Department as well as the excellent response of A.L. Brown students and
staff.
