In Kannapolis City Schools, we want to help our students, parents, and staff deal with the emotions and questions that arise after a tragic incident like the one in Parkland, Florida.

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has wonderful resources, which we have shared with counselors and other staff members in KCS. We want to help our educators support KCS students and families when they have questions or fears. We also want to share the NASP resources with our families.
Here is a link to the NASP resource page, and there is a helpful infographic below.

We also want our KCS families and community to know that we have strong partnerships with the Kannapolis Police Department, Fire Department, and other first responders that work with us on a constant basis to keep our students and staff safe at school. We also partner with community agencies that offer support to our students and families to help meet their physical and emotional needs throughout the year.

We are committed to working with our families, staff, and community to keep our children safe at school and to helping them cope with tragedies that impact us all.
