Registration is now open for Kannapolis City Schools’ new before school care program. Families may enroll their children by clicking here to complete an online application form. They also may download an application form here and return the completed form to their child’s elementary school. Application forms also are available in each elementary school office.

KCS will provide the new before school care option at each of its elementary schools from 7:30 - 8:15 a.m. each school day. The cost for each child will be $2.50 per school day. Families will pre-pay for the service in 20-day increments of $50 each. We have put a table below that shows when each payment is due. Families will not be charged for teacher work days or holidays. However, they will have to pay if their child is absent from school and enrolled in the program.

There is a registration fee of $10, but KCS will waive the registration fee for any family that signs up by Friday, August 18th. Once the school year starts, families that register between payment dates will prepay a prorated amount of $2.50 per day. If payments are late, KCS will charge a fee of $10.

Families may pay by cash, check, or credit card. Anyone wishing to pay by credit card may click here or go to the website of their child’s elementary school (under "Parent Links") to find a payment link.

Beginning in August, the new bell schedule for elementary schools will be 8:45 a.m. until 3:40 p.m. The regular car-rider drop off time for elementary schools will begin at 8:15 a.m. If elementary families need to drop off students before 8:15 a.m., they may use the before school care that will be offered at each school.

Families that need before school care prior to 7:30 a.m. may use other child care providers in the area. A list of child care providers and contact information is available by clicking here. For families that need financial assistance, the YMCA offers scholarships for its before school care program.

On inclement weather days when school is cancelled or delayed, KCS will also cancel or delay its before school care service.
