Registration is under way for the YMCA’s Before- and After-School child care programs. The YMCA is partnering with KCS to offer convenient child care options for parents.

  • Parents of students that attend Forest Park or Jackson Park can take advantage of Before-School child care that will be offered at Forest Park Elementary School. Jackson Park students that attend the Y’s Before-School program at Forest Park will be transported to Jackson Park each morning.
  • Parents of students at other KCS elementary schools can sign up to attend Before-School care that is offered at the YMCA. Children in that program will be transported to Shady Brook, G.W. Carver, Fred L. Wilson, and Woodrow Wilson elementary schools each weekday.
  • The YMCA also offers After-School care at the YMCA and at Forest Park Elementary. The After-School program serves children up through 8th grade.
  • The YMCA will cancel the registration fee for all families that sign up for child care by Friday, June 9th. In addition, the YMCA provides scholarships to help families afford child care. No family will be turned away for the inability to pay.

Beginning in August of 2017, Kannapolis City Schools will add three new magnet programs, open G.W. Carver Elementary School, and expand Kannapolis Middle School. To accommodate these changes, KCS is making adjustments to its bell schedules. Here are the new start and dismissal times for all KCS schools (beginning in August):
