Kannapolis City Schools will hold a COLLEGE AND CAREER SIGNING DAY on Wednesday, May 23rd. The event will highlight where seniors from A.L. Brown High School will attend college or enter the workforce after they graduate in June.

“Most College Signing Days are focused on where athletes will play sports at the next level,” said A.L. Brown Director of Career Technical Education and STEM, Daryle Adams. “However, this event will be all about academics and the workforce. We want to highlight where our seniors are going to college to pursue their academic goals, and we want to show the success of our students who have earned career credentials in high school and are prepared to enter the workforce when they graduate in June. We’re excited about celebrating our students’ college and career goals and showing the success they have had while in high school.”

This is the first time Kannapolis City Schools has held this event. It will take place in two segments. The first part will begin at 12:00 noon in the Kannapolis City Schools’ central office building, which is located at 100 Denver Street. During that ceremony, A.L. Brown High School students will sign letters of intent to enter the workforce at several area businesses. Through partnerships that KCS has with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, KCS students receive career training and professional credentials while still in high school. The career credentials that students earn make them eligible to enter jobs after high school and allow local businesses to fill available jobs with highly skilled employees.

The second part of the Signing event will take place at A.L. Brown High School, which is located next to the KCS central office building. That part of the event will focus on the college futures of A.L. Brown seniors. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center (A.L. Brown auditorium), members of the A.L. Brown Class of 2018 will declare where they will attend college in the fall.

Representatives from area businesses, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, the Centralina Workforce Development Board, Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce, NC Manufacturing Institute, and other community leaders will attend the College & Career Signing events.
