Kannapolis City Schools’ Head Start program and staff were honored with multiple awards at the NC Head Start Conference. The KCS Head Start program serves three- and four-year-old children at the McKnight Child Development Center.

McKnight Child Development Center’s Family Services Coordinator, Brenda Toledano, earned the state’s top honor as the Head Start Support Staff person of the year.  She will now represent North Carolina in the Head Start Association’s southeast regional competition.

Other winners from the KCS Head Start program were Taylor DeLee and Sonya Allman. DeLee was honored as the state's first runner-up for Head Start Teacher Assistant of the Year, and Sonya Allman earned second runner up honors in the Teacher of the Year category. The Director of Kannapolis City Schools’ Head Start program, Jennifer Baucom, was elected state secretary for the NC Head Start Association. Other McKnight Child Development Center staff members were asked to present as part of the conference.

Congratulations to all of these outstanding pre-school educators!
