A.L. Brown High School graduate, Brandon Parker, has been drafted into the National Football League. He was selected as the first pick in the third round by the Oakland Raiders.

Parker graduated from A.L. Brown in 2013 and earned his engineering degree from North Carolina A&T State University. He is a 6-foot-8 inch, 305-pound offensive lineman who will be coached by the Oakland Raiders’ Super Bowl winning Head Coach, Jon Gruden. You can watch and listen to the call he received from Coach Gruden by using this link.

Parker is the sixth player from A.L. Brown to be drafted into the National Football League. He is also the second highest draft pick to come out of A.L. Brown. Only Ethan Horton, who graduated from A.L. Brown in 1981, earned a higher draft pick to the NFL in 1985. In order to select Brandon Parker, the Oakland Raiders traded up 10 spots and gave away three overall draft picks. Coach Gruden and his staff said Parker made a wonderful impression on them during Pro Day, and they knew they wanted him on their team. As a third round draft pick, Parker is expected to make the final roster for the Oakland Raiders and play in the NFL starting in September.
