Professional Development

Kannapolis City Schools believes that learning is not just for children.  Our goal for professional development is to improve student success by increasing the knowledge and skills of our staff members. Through comprehensive needs assessment, collaboration with colleagues, targeted and differentiated professional development workshops, follow-up coaching support, and a culture of constant improvement, KCS aims to meet the learning needs of our educators.

Please make sure you are using Chrome as your internet browser. If you use Internet Explorer, you will encounter error messages. 

CEUs for KCS Professional Development
For KCS professional development, register within TimeKeeper and click on "Workshop Registration" under the "inquiries" section in the left hand margin. There you will find a list of KCS professional development that is available to you. By clicking on the TITLE of the professional development of interest, you will see a description of the workshop, the amount and type of credit earned, dates, times and location. Click "Register" and confirm. After completion of the PD, you will need to fill out an evaluation in TimeKeeper to earn the credit.

CEUs for PD Outside of KCS (10 hours or more)
For outside workshops that total ten or more contact hours, submit the following forms to Sherry Water in Human Resources:

  1. Professional Development Prior Approval (before, signed off by admin)
  2. Prior Approval for Travel Form, if applicable (before, signed off by admin)
  3. Certificate and/or other Proof of Attendance (after)
  4. Evaluation of Professional Development (after)

CEUs for PD Outside of KCS (less than 10 hours)
The district cannot enter partial (less than 1.0) CEUs for outside workshops. For professional learning activities that total less than ten contact hours, do the following:

  1. Complete a Prior Approval for Travel form, if applicable, for each activity.
  2. Save your certificates of similar/connected professional development activities and other proof of attendance until the hours total ten or more.
  3. Keep a Staff Development Activity Log to record the hours and workshops/activity.
  4. Complete an Evaluation of Professional Development for the collected professional learning.
  5. Submit the log, certificates/proof, and evaluation to Sherry Walter in Human Resources.
