Professional Development

Kannapolis City Schools believes that learning is not just for children.  Our goal for professional development is to improve student success by increasing the knowledge and skills of our staff members. Through comprehensive needs assessment, collaboration with colleagues, targeted and differentiated professional development workshops, follow-up coaching support, and a culture of constant improvement, KCS aims to meet the learning needs of our educators.

CEUs for KCS Professional Development

For KCS professional development, register within TimeKeeper and click on "Workshop Registration" under the "inquiries" section in the left hand margin. There you will find a list of KCS professional development that is available to you. By clicking on the TITLE of the professional development of interest, you will see a description of the workshop, the amount and type of credit earned, dates, times and location. Click "Register" and confirm. After completion of the PD, you will need to fill out an evaluation in TimeKeeper to earn the credit.

CEUs for PD Outside of KCS Professional Development

For outside workshops, KCS asks that you send in a minimum of 5 hours of outside PD at one time.  If you attended an outside PD session that was less than five hours, we ask that you hold on to the documentation until you have another similar outside PD session that would bring your total hours to five hours or more, and then send it in together using the log.  We will enter PD credit for outside workshops that total 0.5 CEUs or more.  Submit the following forms to Sherry Walter in Human Resources:
  1. Professional Development Prior Approval (before, signed off by admin)
  2. Prior Approval for Travel Form, if applicable (before, signed off by admin)
  3. Certificate and/or other Proof of Attendance (after)
  4. Travel Reimbursement Form (if you traveled and reimbursement was approved).
  5. If you have less than 5 hours of workshop time, save your certificates of similar PD, and keep record of these on a Staff Development Activity Log. Once the log includes a total of 5 or more hours, you may submit the log, certificates, and evaluation together.
  6. Evaluation of Professional Development (after)
