Keep your iPad Happy

  • Clean it!
    • Directions from Apple's website say:  Handle your iPad with care to maintain its appearance.  To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider).  Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen.  The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.  Simply wipe iPad’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. (The cloth that comes with your eyeglasses is perfect.)  If you MUST wipe off the screen, use a product that is recommended for iPads and spray it ON THE CLEANING CLOTH, not the iPad.

  • Battery Life Tips - #1 tip is to keep it out of direct sunlight or a hot car!
    • Adjusting the Brightness - Managing the screen brightness is the best way to extend iPad battery life. By default, your iPad has Auto-Brightness turned On.  Auto-Brightness adjusts iPad screen brightness based on ambient lighting conditions; lowering brightness in low light conditions helps to extend battery life. You can adjust brightness yourself; go to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper and drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness.  (http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html)
    • Applications that actively use location services, such as Maps, may reduce battery life. To disable location services, go to Settings > General > Location Services or use location services only when needed.

  • Warranty
    • Standard warranty is 1 year
    • AppleCare+ is 3 years (2 additional years from original warranty date expiration)  PLUS two incidents of accidental damage ($49 service fee/deductible)
    • THE $49 IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON THAT BREAKS THE SCREEN....not KCS.  Handle the iPads with care!
