Health and Wellness

School nursing is a specialty branch of professional nursing which seeks to prevent or identify student health or health related problems. The health status of a school-aged child has a direct influence on their academic achievement. One avenue for promoting a healthy lifestyle for students is to ensure that they have access to a variety of health services. This is a joint responsibility between parents, the school, and the community. Students may come to the School Nurse for sick visits, community resource information, vision screenings, medication administration, and a variety of other health related services.
